SYNTHETIC LAWNS

Frequently Asked Questions About Artificial Grass

Here at Back Nine Greens, we use only the highest quality materials available; it’s not like any synthetic lawn you have ever seen or felt before. Though it looks feels and plays so much like real lawn, it is incredibly durable and requires very little maintenance.

Q: Why do you use a synthetic lawn surface?
A: Synthetic lawns look and feel like natural bent grass. There is no maintenance, constant watering, seeding or mowing, only occasional brushing. Synthetic materials stay attractive and effective for many years

Q: Why do you use a compacted rock base?
A: Compacted rock not only saves cost for our customers, but is more durable and effective. It never cracks or separates like concrete, and allows for drainage. See turf system layout.

Q: Will I need infill for my artificial grass?
A: It depends on the application. Read about infill vs. no infill here.

Q: Why not use real bent grass?
A: Durability and low maintenance. There's no mowing, no seeding or constant watering. Synthetic materials are long lasting and always maintain their attractiveness. Special mowers and equipment would also be necessary. This saves our customers cost even more.

Q: Does the Lawn fade?
A: The long term effect of the sun does not harm the turf or make it fade. The fibers have a UV protection coating and can withstand the damaging affects of sun, heat, wind, snow and ice.

Q: What is the maintenance?
A: Maintenance to the turf is minimal. An occasional brooming is recommended but not necessary. This will stand the fibers up and even out the infill materials. Debris like leaves and twigs can be easily removed with a leaf blower. As long as the leaf blower nozzle is not placed too close to the turf, the sand and rubber will stay in place while the debris is blown away. Ask about our maintenance service plans also. Read our artificial turf maintenance guidelines.

Q: What if it rains?
A: The drainage in the turf is very similar to natural grass. The turf backing has many perforated holes allowing for water to drain vertically.

Q: Can my dog play on it?
A: Pets cannot harm the turf. The turf is also installed strictly for dog runs. Urine is not a problem as it absorbs into the sand and rubber and eventually evaporates. You may also spray the soiled area with a hose. Our synthetic turf is lead free. Learn more about pets and synthetic grass.

Q: How does the cost compare to natural grass?
A: The cost comparison to installing synthetic lawn versus installing a sprinkler system, top soil, and the price of sod, combined with watering, mowing, weeding, and fertilizing, it can pay for itself in a few years. See a price comparison chart to see the money savings of artificial grass.

Q: Does your product contain lead?
A: No. Our artificial grass is lead free.

Q: Is your synthetic grass recycleable after its lifetime?
A: Yes.
