The spring and summer seasons have been very busy for Back Nine Greens. One of the reasons is because Southern California still has several cities participating in the artificial turf rebate program. Another reason is that more homeowners looking to sharpen their golf skills in the comfort of their backyards with private putting greens. Artificial grass for Los Angeles or San Francisco homes is not just limited to putting greens. Many are choosing to have artificial turf installed for use as a bocce ball court, CrossFit training areas, volleyball or tennis courts, and much more. Here are some of the biggest projects and accomplishments we made so far this year.
Massive Artificial Golf Green Complex in Los Angeles for Mark Wahlberg
He is well known in the entertainment industry for starring roles including Deepwater Horizon, Lone Survivor, the upcoming Patriot’s Day, and many more. Mark Wahlberg has enlisted the help of Back Nine Greens not once, not twice, but three times to build a golf complex worthy of a PGA master. This time, we did an installation at his Southern California home and completed it while he was busy filming and producing many of today’s blockbusters. He was very hands-on in the design process and it was such a pleasure to work with him.
Check out the varying levels of bunkers, tee lines, First Cut, and fringe! This is a golfer’s paradise and even the bunkers are made with high-quality artificial golfing turf. While he is already a force on the green, we expect to see Mark lower his handicap.
Larger Dent into the California Drought Crisis with Southern California Artificial Grass
Homeowners in the Palm Desert from Los Angeles to San Francisco areas are all aware of the California drought. To reduce water usage, we have helped many homeowners in all three of the major Southern California areas save hundreds of dollars on water bills by switching out their natural lawns for artificial grass.
It can take a little more than half a gallon to water every square foot of your lawn. It is reported that one inch depth of water uses up 0.62 gallon. This means that a 100 square foot yard can use about 62 gallons in just one watering. Over the course of a year, this amounts to more than 22,000 gallons. The cost of water just for lawns alone is astronomical. Artificial turf truly is making a positive impact for the water crisis in the Orange County and Bay Area regions!
Magazine-Worthy Backyard Putting Green Paradise in Napa Valley
Our next major product was a complete lawn overhaul for one of the co-founders of YouTube. This installation was a sprawling landscape in Napa Valley. All areas surrounding the pool and gazebo now have artificial turf that can withstand the heat of the California sun.
We completed this by building a large putting green with First Cut and fringe area and two white turf bunkers. There’s even a custom bocce ball court! What makes this project unique is not who it was for or the complexity of the putting green, but rather the “natural” look of flagstone and synthetic grass all around the bocce ball court.
